Game of Thrones courtesan’s porn blog: Maisie Dee Szerkesztő: Tiny Nibbles | 2012. május 09. szerda, 22:42 |
|
If you’re not massive Game of Thrones fan like I am, then you’ll have to excuse me as I spin like a gleeful loon in my office chair upon discovering Maisie Dee’s My Life and Porn blog. Clever clever spankophile girl Pandora Blake recognized Dee on the show as a fellow spanking aficionado and porn performer, and found Dee’s fun, sex-positive blog. We’re especially glad for this discovery, because Dee is an exhibitionist gem and she blogs about working in the sex scenes during filming of the show. Maisie Dee plays one of Littlefinger’s sex workers, one that has been servicing the Lannister castle under the despicable and corrupt Court of Joffrey. On her blog she details getting hired for the show, her impressions of the actors (spolier: they’re awesome people), and what it’s like to work on sex scenes for this amazing production. She’s fabulous at talking about her scenes without giving away what happened to her character after the last white-knuckle sex encounter she was in. Being a real-life porn performer has enhanced her performances and she talks about that, too. She also talks about the notorious spanking (beating) scene she did, and that she did actually take the belt a bit, rather than the prop. Spanking fans will love Miss Maisie Dee, and so will porn-positive fans of the show. As an added hardcore bonus, Dee likes to blog still from her hardcore performances as well. Dee’s blog is a treat all around. Here’s a snip from her work during the beating scene:

Feminist Porn Awards, dot-XXX and DaneJones postmortem Szerkesztő: Tiny Nibbles | 2012. május 08. kedd, 09:48 |
|
A friend (she’s a mainstream porn performer) asked me what the Feminist Porn Awards / dot-XXX issue was all about. This is how I explained it.
The Feminist Porn Awards gave an award this year to a website that is a front to drive traffic and search engine reputation rank to one of dot-XXX’s pet domains. Lewis Thomas – the man behind FPA-awarded DaneJones – (Thomas is his porn ‘nym) is a garden variety pornographer from the UK that occasionally makes porn under a female name when it profits him to have a female directed product (all of which is mostly shot in the Czech Republic). Somehow he was in the handpicked, exclusive pool of people that got to obtain dot-XXX URLs that were never made available to the public. This means he has direct ties to dot-XXX’s owners ICM Registry. Thomas, a minor player in adult, circumvented big businesses and top adult players that wanted to be in the “Founders” pool of prime domain name buyers. The domains he got are now the top trafficked dot-XXX sites. The problem is, numbers were just released showing that the traffic for dot-XXX sites is really really bad. No one is going to them. This makes ICM registry look bad and hurts non-defensive sales of .XXX sites – and doesn’t look good for ICM’s bids to get dot-adult, dot-sex and other sex related gTLD’s they’re now trying to get from ICANN. They’ve done everything they can think of to drive traffic to Mr. Thomas’ sites, castingdotxxx and orgasmsdotxxx. As you may know, aside from SEO and various other tactics, if you want to get traffic and Google juice you need to have your site linked to from as many other sites as possible with a high reputation “score” from Google (algorithm-wise, the linking sites should be within your topic/genre). No one knows these DaneJones dudes, and the dot-XXX extension is brand new, so both the website and TLD (extension) are “starting from zero.” In racing terms, they’re handicapped. This is where the FPAs come in. What better way can you think of to get a porn site linked to from the most reputable blogs, news sites, individuals and businesses in the sex space? Win an FPA award. Everyone links to the winners, no one questions the decisions, everyone just blindly links. I don’t know how DaneJones ended up on the FPA radar, and I really don’t understand why they picked them for an award. There are many other sites like DaneJones, and DaneJones looks fishy to even me as a drive-by. A far better pick would have been BobbiStarr.com, but that’s just my personal opinion. Finding out that DaneJones appears to be expressly created to push traffic to orgasmsdotxxx made it look even shadier. I tried to contact FPA/GFH last week when I was working on my CBSi article, and they ignored me. The day *after* I published my post and article, they @ replied me on Twitter and acted like they’d never heard from me – when I had honestly tried more than one way to reach out to them. So I’m angry at the dot-XXX sleazebags for using the feminist porn communities (and wider ones it touches) to further their business agenda. I’m also really mad that they succeeded, and that they did so very easily. For some reason, the FPA’s were a pushover. Maybe GFH/the FPA’s don’t know what they’ve done. Yet – they posted a response to my post to them over the weekend. They defended endorsing the dot-XXX front site saying,
Indeed. Wait, huh? Anyway, they’re standing behind their decision. It’s their system, their game and their rules. But I would think DaneJones would be more worthy for an AVN than an FPA, for DaneJones are the opposite of feminist porn and above-average women-centric porn. Except AVN *wouldn’t* give them an award knowing it was essentially the same as endorsing dot-XXX. As for GFH/FPA, I feel sad about the whole situation. The awards have been important, really important – but this has been handled really carelessly so I feel like I need to be careful around their endorsements now. And they mismanaged their communication with me so badly. If they wanted to respond to my queries and reaching out to them, they would have – instead they chose to ignore, then dismiss me, then insist I re-reach out to them, all on Twitter. Unnecessary. So this is their problem to fix (or not), and it is not mine to fix. I’ll keep working on watching those dot-XXX scammers. I’m an outsider to the institutions mentioned here anyway. I was just alarmed to see dot-XXX get close to my world and the people I care about. Keep calm and carry onward. |

Today’s Commemoration, Tomorrow’s History Szerkesztő: Bicyclemark | 2012. május 07. hétfő, 01:01 |
|
Here in the Netherlands, this past Friday was Remembrance day, which includes the 2 minutes of silence which takes place every May the 4th in memoriam of all the victims of WWII (though more recently it has been expanded to include victims of all military conflicts, its still more famous for WWII victims). A friend’s grandfather, who lived through the occupation of the country and the war that caused so much pain and destruction, finds the 2 minutes of silence un-necessary – after all, he lived through it. But WWII is much more recent and much more significant in the lives of present day people in the Netherlands that the establishment of the republic is for today’s Portuguese. The reasons probably seem obvious. But it occurs to me that 100 years from now, WWII remembrance day may also get put aside for economic or social purposes. At some point enough time passes that these significant moments that some lived through and others know all-to-well from stories and history books, even these seemingly vital rituals will not be seen the same way. This is not to say it is a good or bad development, they moments in history and holidays can fade over time. It is, if anything, just an odd characteristic of us as a species. We may record history, but over time, to some degree, it becomes natural to forget. Imagine that. The era will come where WWII is referred to in the same far-off spirit as today we look at the war of 1812 or the wars during Roman times. September 11th will no longer be remembered as it is today, nothing special will take place at the sight of the World Trade Center, life – like time – just keep moving along. |

ICANN, ICM’s dot-XXX numbers sham, and the Feminist Porn Awards Szerkesztő: Tiny Nibbles | 2012. május 04. péntek, 12:13 |
![]() If you have any vested interest in any capacity or regard to a healthy open and free internet – especially free of racketeering and cronyism – and domain names, ICANN, fairness in domain registration and maintenance processes, porn, dot-XXX and TLDs, the business of sex, and feminist/queer porn, then you’ll want to read my new piece: A calm title belies a concise teardown of numbers just released by ICANN and dot-XXX’s ICM registry showing that triple-X domains are a shell game for the history books. The numbers don’t add up. But worse, in tracking numbers and sites six months into dot-XXX I found that several of the ‘patient zero’ top-ranking porn sites for .xxx stem from one source: danejones.com/orgasms.xxx. Interestingly, Dane Jones is the name of Mad Men/X-Men actress January Jones’ son, Xander Dane Jones. The baby was born in September 2011, and DaneJones.com was first registered November 22, 2011 by British pornographer Lewis (known as Lew, aka female porn persona Viv) Thomas. The relative – obfuscated – unknowns behind DaneJones (aka “Really Useful Ltd.” aka Ruseful) got special access to buy prime XXX domains before anyone else. Dot-XXX is performing like shit, but Ruseful’s domains are currently the top ranking .xxx sites. And here’s the thing: no one has heard of them – not outside old boys’ porn anyway, and not in the post-alt era of actual porn for women. Yet somehow they (as DaneJones.com) just won a 2012 Feminist Porn Award. This earns them a massive reputation buy-in that gets them linked to from female porn sites on good faith that Good For Her has vetted them. I can’t get Good For Her to respond to me about who “DaneJones” (aka orgasms.xxx, aka casting.xxx) is to them, why they won an FPA award, or how they made the award happen. Good For Her/Feminist Porn Awards has not responded to my inquiries in my official CBSi/CNET queries or as myself. When the article was published I was contacted by people who had linked to “DaneJones” on blind faith. For them the links are coming down until Good For Her explains what’s going on. I would like to urge anyone that has linked to DaneJones or their sites, especially as endorsed by Good For Her, to remove the links until we can ascertain that not only is endorsement legit, but that this is not part of a linkscam. Seriously: we’ve worked too hard for anyone to trade off our reputations and values. Gently unlink. Personally, I’ll be unlinking and withdrawing all endorsement for Good For Her until I have satisfactory answers. Read the article and you’ll see that the “DaneJones” / orgasms.xxx entitiy seems to be a moving part in the wider multi-million-dollar dot-XXX scams. Posting my article, I stated that ICANN has a lot to answer for in this mess. Right now, so does Good For Her, and the Feminist Porn Awards. |

San Francisco International Film Fest 2012 review: Hysteria Szerkesztő: Tiny Nibbles | 2012. május 03. csütörtök, 21:02 |
|
I’ve been busy covering the 2012 San Francisco International Film Fest over the past week and a half, and it’s been a *great* year for the fest. It’s coming to a close tonight: as of today I’m all done reviewing films and attending stuff. My favorite films were Headhunters (Jo Nesbo, with Jamie Lannister) and Tokyo Waka (documentary about Tokyo’s clever crows). I said biting things about Francis Ford Coppola’s new vampire film Twixt. Sexwise, Stephen Elliott’s Cherry was a peach. My last film was the Sony Classics release Hysteria – which you may recognize from previous posts here in which I chirped with excitement about this Victorian-era tale about the first vibrators, starring Maggie Gylenhaal. My review for Hysteria just went live on SF Appeal. I enjoyed the chance to professionally comment on a mainstream feature film where I could also apply my expertise on sexual technology, among other things. Sadly, I think you’ll find my review more entertaining than the film itself.
